Entertainment Software Rating Board
Published January 4th, 2008 in UncategorizedThe Entertainment Software Rating Board was established in 1994. Its purpose is to regulate and enforce advertising guidelines, principles of online privacy and software ratings, set forth by the video game industry.
There are seven categories that are part of this rating system. These categories include: early childhood, everyone, everyone10+, teen, mature, rating pending and adults only.
There are currently over 30 descriptors, such as nudity, strong language and violence, which are taken into consideration during the rating process, as well.
These ratings and descriptors can be used when determining whether a specific Xbox360 title is suitable, for a child.
In addition, the Xbox 360 console is equipped with parental settings that can be easily modified, dependent on the age level of the child.
